65 Year old Patient from Iraq Undergoes a complicated Brain Surgery to get rid of a Large Tumour

An Iraqi citizen, 65-year old Mr. Adnan was not in a good health condition and was suffering from symptoms such as severe headache, vision and memory issues, problem in balancing himself, and difficulty in walking. A scan done during a visit to a doctor showed that he had a large tumour sitting right in the middle of his Brain, which was causing these issues. Along with this, he also had Hydrocephalus, in which there is fluid accumulation in the Brain that causes swelling.

With such a critical issue, he went to some doctors, who recommended a surgery, but it didn’t work out there, so he approached Global Health City hospital in Chennai. Dr. K. So, first a Shunt procedure was done in which a tube is passed into the Brain and the excess fluid is drained to the abdomen. This helps in reducing the pressure on the Brain. After a gap of 3-4 days, the main tumour removal surgery was done. This was a very advanced microsurgery in which through a very small incision made at the back of the head, the tumour was approached. It was of about 8 centimetres in size and gap available to extract the tumour. Dr. Sridhar says that the surgery went on for almost 9 hours and a microscope with very high magnification was used so that each and every nerve and blood vessel could be seen clearly. He further explains that the tumour was right below the Brain and the tumour was removed in small pieces without disturbing the Brain.

Thus, the procedure was done fluently by Dr. Sridhar, which resulted in a very positive outcome. The patient showed remarkable progress and got rid of all the symptoms that he was suffering from previously. Mr. Adnan says that everything has been so perfectly handled at the hospital.
